♣ He Will Gloriously Provide

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” – Hebrews 13:5-6

This is SO applicable during this economic crisis. Being content with what we have is something that is so alien to modern Christianity. Paul said, “I have LEARNED in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have LEARNED the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” (Phil 4:11-12). Now hang on a second, Paul… did you say that you had to face hunger and need? Wow, we do not hear that today from our pulpits and in the latest books; we don’t hear that sometimes when some of us go through circumstances, where it seems that God doesn’t care because we have suffered need and He hasn’t ‘showed up’ and given us what we prayed for, while all the time God is making us grow up, bringing us to that place of trusting Him that even though chaos is breaking out all around us He is still in control and that whatever happens in our lives, particularly with our trials, it is His good and perfect will taking place.

Through such lessons we come to know what we REALLY need; it has been Him all along! We come to realize how self orientated our prayers have been. Do we ACT upon the fact that our heavenly Father knows exactly what we need and that He will gloriously provide? This is where discipleship is revealed for what it really is; “The servant is not greater than his Master.”

God may not always give us what we ask for – but instead,  bring us to that place of resigning our will to His where He gives us FAR more than what we dared to imagine or dream!
