♣ Without God: Without Hope

“Having no hope and without God in the world.” – Ephesians 2:12

CHAOS HAS BEEN the long common thread of life in the world since the fall of man and only through the redemption of Christ do we see order. We are all – Christian and non-Christian alike – victims of life’s disorder. Our leading nations in turmoil, countries at strife with others and terrorism now at our very doorsteps are just a few examples. Nothing seems as certain as we once believed, especially as we witness our government’s incompetence to execute justice on a rising tyranny.

With the rapid shift of political tolerance and multiculturalism that pervades our justice systems, no doubt each and every one of us have wondered what our future now holds. What many of us took for granted are now seriously considering a great possibility of losing. Only a minority are willing and brave enough to stand, protest and resist the rising oppression. The outlook is far from optimistic and as I heard a few days ago, during a conversation, “What can we do about it?” implying that whatever we do isn’t going to make the slightest bit of difference; that kind of mentality does anything other than instill hope.

Despite uncertainty and insecurity triggered by all the atrocious activities taking place, the worst aspect anybody can contend with is living in this world without God. God will not be used as a ‘crutch’; neither will He allow anyone to ‘bury their heads in the sand’. We all encounter trials of life, but in and through God we see things as they really are.

The Bible is nothing but truthful and honest as to how the world is described; not as to what God created, but the system of this world; what it has become: a regime under the suzerainty of satanic influence. The greatest manifest devilish deception is not when nations are in uproar with one another, but when nations are at peace and rest under a common rule and order independent of God. This world will pass away and all who put their trust and hope in this world’s wisdom will share in its future of unceasing anguish.

Ultimately, this world will only saturate our hearts with despair, never the hope that withstands any atrocity, crises and catastrophe. God is the One Who drenches our spirit with hope as we find Him to be our refuge, our shelter, our defender and our protector – a very present help in times of trouble. We may not encounter ‘happy’ circumstances with the way this world’s affairs are run, but come what may, we know to Whom our souls belong that are kept eternally safe by His power. Our joy and peace may well be mingled with pain and sadness while many people of the world’s system ‘seem’ to prosper through their unjust and ill-gotten ways, but that will settle just fine with the soul that is intact with God because when we have God, we have more than everything our hearts could ever hope for.
