VOLUNTARY ‘SELF-DENIAL’ in following our Lord aspires to the appeal of exhibiting oneself in a setting of our choosing where people will marvel at us, whereas compulsory self-denial required, in pursuing our Lord, is the prerogative of His choosing our cross and settings where death to self truly takes place so that only His resurrection-life and glory are impressed on others.
