♣ In Whom Is Our Trust? – Part Three

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
Note: For readers who have yet to view the previous articles in this series, you can find Part One HERE, and Part Two HERE
OUR MAINSTREAM NEWS platforms have swamped our televisions, tablets, iPhones, Androids, and particularly of late the narrative has been over Trump, Zelensky and Putin. Who are the real enemies here?
While I will not make this third article in the series just about politics, I deliberately endeavour to keep on track with what edifies all who profess faith in Christ to strive for truth. While we know that our first and foremost commission is to make disciples of all nations, it doesn’t negate our responsibility in applying sound reasoning and judgement when it comes to acknowledging and facing world events.
There are two imbalances among Christians: the one who ignores the political arena and the repercussions of certain decisions made. The other is to be all-consumed with governmental affairs that obliterates a sound mindset of God’s sovereignty over ALL affairs.
With media at the touch of our fingertips – more than any other time in history – it is not so easy in maintaining a single-minded focus; we know Whom we are to be preoccupied with, Whom we are to be loyal to amidst a crazy, unstable and dark world. I strongly presume we know that we are lights among this evil generation – that is if we are striving to fulfil the greatest commandment to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind, strength and soul. Everything is subsequent to that.
If we as Christians are to be involved with politics – that is, either through expressing our views or being actively involved in such a realm, then let us do so with truth and conviction, not merely from personal bias or opinions divorced from facts. It requires long hard work to gather facts, and even then there is a suspending of judgement until we have pushed our reasoning as far as it can go as we verify our findings from numerous trustworthy sources.
One of the main factors that so many fall into is the overthrowing of sound critical thinking. We as Christians ought to be ‘light years’ ahead of the world IF we have the Spirit of Truth residing within us. It is lamentably true that so many professing Christians today fall for a plethora of lies that is spewed out by main news corporations, and it remains to be an enigma that so many intelligent Christians propagate such ideologies and perspectives. Furthermore – and this is what is most alarming: how is it that atheists, or people of other religions see through the lies and expose the deceptions? Very FEW Christians stand against the lies in light of truth.
It should therefore come as no surprise that much of what comprises churches today is not just a lack of discernment, but the ABSENCE of it! How can that be, and on what grounds do I make that claim? Simply put, over the last several years, I have conversed with numerous believers, viewed numerous videos, read countless articles of where Christians have stood in camps of where they have NO business standing in. Just the last five years throughout the Covid scenario, I have witnessed scores of believers falling for blatant and outright lies of the greatest scandal in our 21st Century. Of late, I have seen how many believers fall for the propaganda over the Russia and Ukraine war as if blind to the real narrative, and so blind that a physically blind person sees more than those who claim to have their eyes ‘wide’ open.
I cannot understand how professing born-again Christians can advocate and vote for a political party that is immoral and EVIL in promoting abortion, transgenderism, homosexuality, paedophilia, child-trafficking, and to add to the list: guilty of blatant war crimes, murder, treason… the list goes on. This is modern day liberalism and it begs the question to be answered: how can a Spirit-filled believer be part of ushering in such a LAWLESS government? Surely the Holy Spirit would raise a flag or alarm. In fact, the Spirit of God does! Either such a person is ignorant, or their profession in Christ is one of deception.
To be clear here, I am not out to attack the church. I’m having us to look at truth in the face and where churches are failing. It’s addressing facts as hard they may seem to face. No, it is not my intent to criticise the true body of Christ, but rather to exhort every believer to be aware of what really is transpiring through prayer, discerning lies from truth, and therefore speaking truth, for if we don’t, we are just as guilty as the corrupt elites who spin such lies and deception.
The 47th US President is hated for how he speaks; hated as he is being falsely accused of committing war crimes; hated for many things he has NOT committed; hated for not getting involved in defending other countries. He’s wrongly hated BECAUSE people are ignorant of the FACTS.
Factually, President Trump has only done EVERYTHING he promised to do. In fact, he’s done MORE than what he promised, and he’s despised for it! What a person does rather than what they say is what ought to count. We have supposedly had enough of talkers, or so I was inclined to believe, but I’m not too sure we are ready for such a leader of action.
Zelensky is labelled as a “hero” by much of the world, but the man has never entered into military combat; he’ll wear a military uniform, but he has NEVER been in military service. In fact, he has deliberately avoided it on at least four occasions, but instead is willing for countless scores of people to spill their own blood for his personal gain. That is NOT a “hero”. Friends, a leader is one who will toil, sweat, bleed and sacrifice for others.
Putin – likened to Hitler by many – will not go along with modern day liberalism, but stands for healthy traditional values that’s at the heart of humanity, and the globalists character assassinate him.
There is more than meets the eye with these leaders, but sadly so many fall for a convincing, persuasive and emotional mainstream narrative. There is corruption in each of these countries. All three leaders stand with flaws; one leader stands honest, another stands a mystery, while the other has cheated millions.
None of these leaders are our redeemers, saviours or heroes, and they should not be hailed as such by any who profess faith in Christ.
I ask: In whom is our trust amidst circumstances of prosperity, poverty, corruption, war and death?
To whom are we really looking? Who are we really trusting? Are we going to trust in the strength of man in all of his ‘ingenuity’ and ‘brilliance’, or are we going to trust the ONE who ALONE deserves to be called Hero, Redeemer, Saviour, Victor?
ALL these leaders have the potential to let us down and sorely disappoint. They are but MEN prone to fail, and if they succeed, it is ONLY by God’s overruling providence in His benevolence toward us and His highest good and purpose.
