♣ Prepared In Times of Peace and Prosperity

“He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady (established); he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries” – Psalm 112:7-8.
HOW OFTEN WE hear of running to God in times of adversity, comparable to that of the foolish virgin’s who had no oil for their lamps. Totally unprepared.
Our most dangerous times are not in moments of conflict but in times of ease. Think of King David who sinned and fell during his time of ease when everything appeared to be going so well (2 Samuel 11). Many have been prone to panic amidst a world-‘pandemic’ and the aftermath thereof, trying to get things right; many have been caught off guard. Many have neglected God in times of ease, not realising many lost the battle THEN not NOW.
A steady and established heart is fixed on God in the peaceful, secure and prosperous times, and consequently such a mindset and heart will not be moved in times of adversity.
Yes, bad situations happen but the heart established rightly with God in times of ease will know HOW to live unperturbed in the midst of trouble.
This is the oil that has matured with times of knowing God instead of squandering moments on trivial pursuits. Times of ease are meant to be periods of trimming and filling one’s lamp more than ever. The buying of such oil are not last moment purchases when the crunch comes. Any fool would run for safety in tumultuous times; one who is wise and has genuine love for God prepares in seasons of quietness where no sound of trouble is heard.
