♣ God’s Will: The Christian’s Passion

john 4 34

IF GOD’S WILL is not central in my life I have no right, as a child of God, to draw sustenance and enjoyment from anything else.

Is there anything that satisfies other than Jesus Christ? A child of God will not find complete satisfaction in anything else but in Christ, where one’s heart knows no bounds. Living in the will of God meets the aching abyss of each heart.

When God has come near to a group of people in prayer meetings and fellowship, time seems to be of no significance (a profound sense of eternity becomes the prevalent note) and bodily appetites are curbed for joy in the presence of God. His presence indeed becomes our ‘food’. Of course, we have bodily needs – God has made us that way, but self has made them predominant to where we may have exceeded our needs to the point of greed. There is a subtle fine line between necessity and excess; enjoyment and idolatry.

Fasting is essentially soul-concentration on God where other matters do not prove worthy to compare; our body is to be subservient. “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice” Nowadays, many have made it that man shall live by bread alone; it is humanity’s idol: clothes, food and drink – the base necessities of life – and the devil either has supreme control or great influence in our lives if he keeps us from looking beyond that. Our bodies are created to be servants unto the purposes of God, not man or woman being a slave to their body. Our bodies are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:20) and we are responsible for keeping them under control (1 Corinthians 9:27). Self-control, in the last days, is one of the hallmarks lacking in a degenerative humanity.

  3. Excellent post Brother. As a newborn in Christ Jesus I struggled for a period of time over self-control. No matter how hard I tried, I always failed. Then I saw the Truth of what Paul had to say in.Galatians.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

    HALLELUJAH, HE’S MY EVER-PRESENT POWER & STRENGTH !
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY BROTHER MARK

    • His grace is sufficient to not sin; we don’t have to sin. I remember a pastor once saying, “learn to stretch the grace of God, prove it in and every situation.” Thank God for His grace that is there for every moment and for the times in which He has disciplined us to learn how to draw on it.

Was praying for you with freedom this morning.
His smile be upon you, Brother.
